The Straw Hat is a joy-fuelled British wine brand that’s breaking all the traditional stuffy wine rules.
Purse-friendly and deliciously drinkable, The Straw Hat delivers a red, white, rosé and Rosé Botanical (Strawberry, Rhubarb & Orange Blossom), that are easy-drinking, award-winning, refreshingly unpretentious – and from less than a fiver a bottle!
The British wine is produced in Yorkshire using grape juice from sunny Spain and are perfect with picky bits for girly nights, kitchen discos, chilled autumnal evenings in the garden, pre-drinks with your OGs or cosy nights on the sofa binge-watching true crime documentaries.
Our brief was to create a buzz and position the brand with its core consumer of fun-loving women who love a cheeky vino without the snobby pretensions.
We commissioned a national survey looking at the unusual foods Brits pair their wine with, and it’s not steak and seafood! It’s pizza, cheese on toast, Pot Noodle, Wotsits, Monster Munch and the odd Cheese String.
We also sought to find out Britain’s favourite ‘hun’ with Gemma Collins topping the list and discovered that drinking wine straight from the bottle ‘Bridget Jones style’ was typical hun activity.
We secured a raft of national tabloid coverage for our news stories along with product mentions in titles including The Sun, Daily Star, Daily Express, Daily Mail Online, Daily Mirror with a total reach in the 100s of millions!
